Born and raised in Brasil, Thayse Viégas, has been living in Italy for many years now; in Milan she has professionally experienced the fashion world, without forgetting one of her deepest passions: art.
Carrying always her interests and experiences with her, she has realised a limited collection of decorative porcelain dishes. Each plate, Made in Italy and hand-decorated, contributes to the creation of an original collection entitled Behind the Scenes.
Behind the Scenes is an ironic artistic path suspended between art, fashion and design. In this project, Thayse plays with the contemporary concepts of “aesthetic” and “beauty”, mixing them with art and cosmetic in a playful communication game. The result is a joyful contamination between classic masterpieces and contemporary habits in front of which the audience will have the feeling that the Girl with a Pearl Earring has posted a selfie on Instagram the moment before being painted by Vermeer.
The artist realize her pieces through an interesting combination of digital processes and artisan techniques. Porcelain is used as a white space able to reproduce Thayse’s point of view on art, beauty and aesthetic where classic ideas are revisited and taken to a whole new, modern and irreverent level.
