Heidi Jalkh (1986) is an experimental designer, formed in Industrial design. Born in Medellin, Colombia and currently residing in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a specialist in Logic and Technique of the Form and she currently serves as assistant professor of morphology in ID department. (both at FADU, UBA). She has continued her studies in the field of interdisciplinary research through the Master Open Design of the Humboldt University in Berlin and FADU, UBA.
Heidi’s process is based on research and analysis from an exploratory and intuitive approach. she believes that objects are manifested iterations of open recursive processes. Her objective is to configure products that highlight their evocative meaning through morphology, materials and technology, pushing the limits of available production methods, fusing high precision processes and artisanal manufacturing techniques. Her current research focuses on how to make matter sensitive through form, and finding meaningful connections between the fields of biology, design and engineering. by this achieving a higher level of integration between the generation of the form, its materialization and manufacture.
She founded her own studio in 2011, where he designs, develops and produces products. Her projects have been exhibited in different international exhibitions, festivals and galleries, as well as in print and digital media.
Since October 2017, she serves as strategic design lead alongside Manuel Garzarón, at >> FABRICA design and innovation << a program of COFECYT, Ministry of Science and Technology of Argentina.
ENTRE MEDIO COLLECTION
THESE LATEST DESIGN WORKS ARE THE EMBODIMENT OF AN ONGOING EXPLORATION WHICH SEEKS TO FUSE CERAMIC MATERIALS OF DIFFERENT COMPOSITION: CERAMICS AND GLASS. TWO SEPARATE ELEMENTS AND TECHNOLOGIES CONCEPTUALLY AND MATERIALLY UNITE TO HIGHLIGHT THE INTRINSIC QUALITY OF BOTH MATERIALS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO EACH OTHER.
